Zonal Systems was founded by Robert Pierce, Phd., who has over 40 years experience in in computer science system design and management, shown in picture at right on the left a few years ago with his life-long friend, James L. “Chip” Northrup, MBA, the author or co-author of 10 US patents, ranging from an electrical control device to a virtual reality shooting simulator, shown at right in picture at right, once upon a time.
Northrup’s great-grandfather, JD Northrup, of Giddings, Texas was one of the inventors of the modern western saddle. His grandfather worked for Northrup & Clark that made the Northrup patent saddle in Houston. His late father, Lynn Northrup, had 14 US patents, primarily related to solar energy systems, of which he was a pioneer. Northrup Energy invented, developed, manufactured sold and installed solar energy systems in Texas. Northrup holds 7 US patents for marksmanship training on moving targets.
Northrup has ten patents granted or pending, including the 5 Zonal patents. One of his other patents has been commercialized in a virtual reality shooting simulator called CLAZER.
Zonal’s patented, proven technology represents a unique approach to geo-enclosing polygonal or polyhedral spaces for specific uses – namely the control of machines, security systems, retail and gaming.
